'Snow White and the Huntsman' sequels could follow Chris Hemsworth's character?

I like Ron Meyer, the top dog over at Universal. For a studio suit he seems to be a pretty straight shooter. Like last year when he said that his studio and Hollywood make "a lot of shitty movies". Can't argue with that. While talking to THR recently, he clarified it by saying that Universal also makes some good ones. Ok, no biggie. A soft backpedal, but not too bad. What is more interesting and noteworthy is what he has to say about Universal's big summer film, Snow White and the Huntsman.

While discussing Universal's need to create their own franchises, which they've done to remarkable success with Fast and the Furious and the Jason Bourne movies, he mentioned the possibility of doing more movies spinning off from Snow White and the Huntsman, likely centering on the character played by Chris Hemsworth.

"Meyer said that while the upcoming Snow White and the Huntsman doesn’t appear to lend itself to a sequel, Universal thinks it can do more movies based on the character of the Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) if it is successful."

Just how successful it will be has to be up in the air after the rather lackluster performance by Mirror Mirror, another Snow White adaptation which featured Julia Roberts as the evil queen. Huntsman has considerably better buzz, though, drawing comparisons to the Lord of the Rings for its darker tone and. Plus, it has the star power of Kristen Stewart behind it, which should automatically bring in a certain segment of fans.

Snow White and the Huntsman opens on June 1st.
