Dwayne Johnson confirms 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation' reshoots
This whole thing with G.I. Joe: Retaliation getting bumped by Paramount into next year is a never ending story, it seems. One of the big items of contention is extreme length of time the studio is taking for what should be a fairly simple process of converting the film into 3D. While nobody wants a hasty four week process that produces muddy crap like with Clash of the Titans, nine months is a hell of a long time. Now we know what's up, courtesy of Dwayne Johnson's Twitter page, where he states that reshoots are taking place to make the best use of the technology. Makes sense...
Jon Chu, who did a bang up job with the format in the otherwise horrible Step Up 3D, should be able to find a way to do the same here. I certainly have more faith in him to do it than Stephen Sommers, who directed the previous film to middling success. It's still a lot of time just for a few reshoots, so I'm guessing there will be some other tinkering taking place as well. Johnson will be joined by Bruce Willis, Channing Tatum, Rza, Adrianne Palicki, DJ Cotrona, Ray Park, Lee Byung-hun, Ray Stevenson, and Elodie Yung. You can now expect the film to open on March 29th 2013. Yo Joe!
