The first full trailer for animated 'The Life of Gusko Budori'
Back in March we brought you the teaser trailer for The Life of Gusko Budori, a Japanese anime film based on the classic story by revered author and poet, Kenji Miyazawa. Miyazawa lived a short life, never reaching the age of 40, but spent that time creating a number of literary works that continue to stand the test of time. Other than his amazing Night on the Galactic Railroad, Guskou Budori is probably what he's best known for.
Now we have the full version of the trailer, and it's even more beautiful if that's even possible. The 1920s set fairy tale follows Gusko, who lives in the Tohoku forests of Japan. When a series of natural disasters and droughts ravage the area, Gusko is forced to leave his home to start a new life, and vowing to find a way to prevent that destruction from effecting others. Gisaburo Sugii, who also directed an adaptation of Night on the Galactic Railroad, brought that same anthropomorphic style to this film as well. It's set to be released in Japan on July 7th, and will likely receive an English dub before hitting here on DVD. The trailer's in Japanese, but the emotions and the gorgeous animation are obvious.
