Jessica Chastain turns down role in 'Iron Man 3'
Noooooo! It was almost too good to be true, thinking that Jessica Chastain would be making the jump to the blockbusting world of Marvel movies with Iron Man 3. Well, turned out it was, because the actress took to her Facebook page and revealed that due to her packed schedule, hanging out with that roguish cad Tony Stark just isn't in the cards.
Chastain: "Sorry to say that Iron Man 3 isn't going to work out. My schedule is jammed packed and I can't fit anything else in. The press announced my possible attachment far too soon. I know many of you wanted me to be involved, and I'm so sorry to disappoint you. Hopefully there'll be another Marvel film in my future. Shane Black and everyone on the IM3 team are really wonderful. I'm very excited to see the film when it comes out. xx"
Well this certainly puts a damper on things. While her role wasn't explicitly stated, it looked like she would be playing Maya Hansen, the colleague of Aldrich Killian(Guy Pearce), the guy who steals the Extremis nano-virus and delivers it to terrorists. It's assumed that the other contenders for the role, including Isla Fisher and Diane Kruger, are now back in the mix.
Iron Man 3 still looks pretty darn impressive, with the returning Robert Downey Jr., Don Cheadle, and Gwyneth Paltrow joined by Guy Pearce, Ben Kingsley, and Andy Lau.
