Tops at the Box Office: 'The Avengers' gamma crushes all box office records

1. The Avengers- $200.3M
This will probably come as a shock, but The Avengers avenged the hell out of every other film on its way to the top spot this week. What may surprise is you just how much butt got hulk smashed. Marvel's superhero jam is now the highest grossing opening weekend ever at a devastating $200.3M, beating out the previous total established last year by the final Harry Potter film. To put this in perspective, The Avengers already has bested the entire domestic hauls of Thor, Captain America, and The Incredible Hulk. Hmmm...three days vs. their full theatrical runs? Yeah, I'd say this qualifies as a success. Marvel and Paramount deserve all the credit in the world for establishing such a clear road map, with The Avengers seeming like an event in the making since all the way back in 2008.  Now the only question is whether or not Batman has enough in his utility belt to possibly measure up in a couple of months. I don't think so. So get ready folks, Iron Man 3 is right around the corner, and then it's time to start talking The Avengers Part II.

2. Think Like A Man- $8M/$73M
3. The Hunger Games-  $5.7M/$381M
At $617M worldwide and counting, it'll be interesting to see if it can hold on The Avengers onslaught and keep the top spot for the year. I'm guessing the odds aren't forever in The Hunger Games' favor.
4. The Lucky One-  $5.51M/$47.9M
5. The Pirates! Band of Misfits-  $5.4M/$18.6M
6. The Five-Year Engagement-  $5.09M/$19.2M
7.  The Raven- $2.51M/$12M
8. Safe-  $2.47M/$12.9M
Ooooh, that 68% drop from last week smarts like one of Jason Statham's headbutts. Look for Safe to do extremely well on DVD and Blu-Ray.
9. Chimpanzee- $2.4M/$23M
10. The Three Stooges-  $1.8M/$39.6M
