Two new clips from 'On the Road', with Garrett Hedlund and Kristen Stewart
The thirty year wait for an adaptation of Jack Kerouac's seminal road trip novel, On the Road, is finally over now that the film has premiered at Cannes. So far the response has been strong, if not exactly glowing. The performances by the three leads, Garrett Hedlund, Sam Riley, and especially Kristen Stewart have received the most praise. In particular, many have noted just how good it is to see Stewart set free from the Twilight bonds. I would tell those people to go rent The Yellow Handkerchief, where she's sensuous as heck.
Two new clips have arrived, which give us our best look at the sexually charged Stewart in the role of Marylou, the girlfriend of Dean Moriarty(Hedlund), who tags along with aspiring writer Sal Paradise(Riley) as they hit the road to discover what America is all about. Apparently it's about dancing, drugs, and sex, which is just fine with me. The first clip shows Marylou and her sorta naive attitude regarding the future. The second introduces us to Camille(Kirsten Dunst), Moriarty's wife, as she hits the dance floor with Sal. All of the characters in the story are based on Kerouac and his close associates in the Beat Generation.
Walter Salles(The Motorcycle Diaries) directs, based on a script by that film's writer, Jose Rivera. Alice Braga, Viggo Mortensen, Steve Buscemi, Elisabeth Moss, Terrence Howard, Tom Sturridge, and Danny Morgan co-star. Can we get a release date, please?[HitFix/Cinemablend]
