Charming 1st poster for the 'Paddington' Bear movie

When I was a kid, there was this show on Nickelodeon called Pinwheel, and it was basically about 12 straight hours of family friendly programming. Educational cartoons, live-action shorts, and it went on until the afternoon until You Can't Do That On Television would come on and signal the end of anything kids should be watching. My favorite part of Pinwheel back then was that they would show a stop-motion animated Paddington short. Soon, as the polite English bear became more popular, you could find him everywhere from the Disney Channel, to HBO, to the USA Network. Now we're going to get him on the silver screen courtesy of Harry Potter producer, David Heyman.

The first poster for the CGI/live-action Paddington movie has been released, and it's really quite the striking image of him arriving at the Paddington train station, with a suitcase that I'm guessing contains a bunch of marmalade sandwiches. Created by Michael Bond in 1958, Paddington's books continue to delight children around the world, most recently in this year's Paddington Goes for Gold.

We don't know much about what Paddington will entail, as it won't be taken from any of the established stories. Instead, the film be inspired by the entirety of the series, which means we'll likely see Paddington's first encounters with the human Brown family, who would ultimately adopt him. I'm fairly excited for this, as it will be directed by Paul King, who helmed the wonderfully surreal Brit comedy, Bunny and the Bull.  Looks like we can expect Paddington to arrive in 2014.
