Dexter Fletcher lands Mark Strong to lead his Western, 'Provenance'
I think when Dexter Fletcher's directorial debut, Wild Bill, proved to be such a critical success, it threw a lot of people for a loop. Fletcher is probably best known for his role as Soap in Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, and also was a part of HBO's Band of Brothers. But I don't know if anybody expected him to be such an accomplished filmmaker, especially so early on. Now with a highly regarded film to his credit, he's got the leeway to take on a project and a genre he's always wanted to, and now he's found a big name star to help make it happen.
Fletcher is set to direct Provenance, a contemporary Western which will be set in Arizona. With Sammy Williams(Attack the Block) already set for one role, Fletcher has also landed the awesome Mark Strong to take the lead. The two worked together on Kick-Ass and briefly in Stardust, and I wouldn't be surprised if Fletcher rounds up some more of his past associates to fill out the cast.
It's a smart move for Fletcher snagging someone like Strong, who is equally popular both here and abroad, and should draw some much needed attention to the project. Not much in the way of details as of yet, but it's already a film worth keeping a close watch on. [The Guardian]
