Jonah Hill is back for Quentin Tarantino's 'Django Unchained'

In case you haven't noticed, Jonah Hill is kind of a big deal right now. Fresh off a sterling few months that saw him earn an Oscar nomination for Moneyball, score a $200M hit in 21 Jump Street, and secure a starring role in Martin Scorsese's next film, Hill got so busy that he had to miss out on a film he really wanted to do. Last November we learned that Quentin Tarantino wanted him for Django Unchained, playing the role of Scotty Harmony, the insecure guy who first owns Django's(Jamie Foxx) wife before losing her to the evil Calvin Candie(Leonardo DiCaprio). Hill had to turn the role down, but now it appears his calendar's opened up as Deadline reports he's back in.

Strange to hear that any casting is taking place, since....y'know....we already have a fully formed trailer and stuff. Apparently filming is still very much underway, and if Harvey Weinstein's words from a few weeks ago are to be believed, there may be plenty more big names hovering around the set. Hill won't be playing Scotty Harmony, however.  He'll be another role that's being kept under wraps. Tarantino's known for changing his scripts on the fly, so it's possible the Harmony character is no longer a factor. Sacha Baron Cohen was also briefly in the role, but he too had to depart due to scheduling issues.

After this wraps up, Hill will be back teaming with DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street.  Django Unchained is apparently still in production, due to hit theaters on Christmas Day.
