The roaring 1st footage from Ang Li's 'Life of Pi'

20th Century Fox knows they have something special on their hands with Ang Lee's adaptation of Life of Pi, and they're doing everything in their power to make sure the film gets the attention it deserves. After some brief footage wowed the audiences at CinemaCon, Fox moved the release date up nearly a month to November 21st, to get it away from the December crowd where it would have disappeared behind flashier projects like The Great Gatsby and Django Unchained. Now as the official website has been updated with a handful of gorgeous, water color images from the film, they've also released a brief bit of very impressive footage.

Based on Yann Martel's best selling fairy tale, the story follows Pi(newcomer Suraj Sharma), the son of a wealthy zookeeper who finds himself stranded at sea for over 200 days with a handful of zoo animals, and a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker. After Parker devours the other animals, Pi is left alone to appease the creature to keep from being eaten himself. The story is unorthodox, and many other directors have tried to adapt the material and failed. Tackling projects like this are what Ang Lee specializes in, and he appears to have nailed it again now. The clip shows a potentially disastrous first encounter between Pi and Richard Parker.

Irrfan Khan, Tobey Maguire, Gerard Depardieu, and Adil Hussain co-star. Check out the images and clip below...
