* With filming set to begin later this month, Atom Egoyan has been furiously casting up The Devil's Knot, his dramatic take on the West Memphis 3 scandal. The latest to join are the always great Amy Ryan(Win Win) and Dane DeHaan(Chronicle). They'll join Colin Firth, Reese Witherspoon, Alessandro Nivola, Mireille Enos, Kristopher Higgins, and the recently added Kris Polaha, Collette Wolf, and Justin Castor. Ryan will play the soon to be ex-wife of private investigator, Ron Lax(Firth), while DeHaan will play a boy who has a history with the three murdered boys at the center of the story. [Variety]
* Bill Paxton(Aliens) has joined Mark Wahlberg, Denzel Washington, and Paula Patton in 2 Guns, the action flick directed by Baltasar Kormakur(Contraband), and based on the Steven Grant graphic novel. He'll play a CIA agent in the crime thriller surrounding a DEA agent and naval officer who withhold their identities from one another as they try to rob a bank full of mob money. [Variety]
* Will Gluck(Easy A, Friends with Benefits) is set to direct Skyjack: The Hunt for D.B. Cooper, based on last year's true crime novel by Geoffrey Gray. The book speculates on the identity of Cooper, one of the most famous unsolved mysteries in this country's history. In 1971, Cooper hijacked a Boeing 727 for $200,000, then calmly parachuted away into the Pacific Northwest, never to be seen or heard from again. Keith Bunin(In Treatment) will write the script, with Gluck also serving as producer. [Deadline]
