Amy Adams is pretty familiar with David O. Russell at this point, having worked with him on The Fighter just a few years ago. For that, she earned her third Best Supporting Actress Academy Award nomination, and although she didn't win, maybe the next time will be the charm?
Just a day after we learned Jeremy Renner may be replacing Christian Bale in the soon-to-be retitled political drama, American Bullshit, THR reports that Adams is the next to sign on. The film follows the 1980 Abscam FBI sting operation, in which con man Melvin Weinberg(Bradley Cooper) helped them ferret out corruption in Congress. Adams will play Max Gardner, Weinberg's girlfriend and accomplice.
Filming begins in February, and it sounds like another promising supporting turn for Adams. She'll be seen next in Paul Thomas Anderson's The Master, and then Man of Steel in the role of Lois Lane in Man of Steel.
