It's been sort of a piecemeal marketing push for The Master, Paul Thomas Anderson's controversial drama with Scientology parallels. While we've seen a couple of excellent teasers, mostly centering on Joaquin Phoenix's Frankie Sutton character, those of us who have been eagerly awaiting Anderson's next film want more. And fortunately, that's exactly what we're getting.
A new teaser poster has been released, presented in a half empty wine bottle image. Not sure what it means, but I assume it has something to do with Sutton being an alcoholic, who finds potential salvation under the guidance of Lancaster Dodd(Philip Seymour Hoffman), a charismatic man who creates a totally new belief system that sweeps the country. Let's hope we get a proper full-length trailer in the next few days.
Amy Adams and Laura Dern will co-star when The Master hits theaters on October 12th. [HuffPo]
