Rian Johnson's Looper made quite the impression at Comic-Con, sandwiched between the mediocre Total Recall and the exceptional footage from Elysium. With the lovely Emily Blunt(hotter up close, folks) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt on stage, Johnson showed off enough to convince me he'll be taking the sci-fi genre in a bold new direction, just as he's done with film noir and heist films before.
A batch of new images have been released, which show off again the impressive prosthetics that have transformed JGL into a younger version of Bruce Willis. Set in a future where the mob has gained control of time machine technology, they send their intended victims back into the present where a "looper" can pick them off without a trace. JGL plays one of these loopers, who is in for a shock when his latest target is an older version of himself. I'm curious to see just how Emily Blunt fits into the equation, because there's definitely more to her than just a wood chopping love interest. The new photos show us more of the Looper world, and even give us a glimpse at Willis' character during happier times. Looper hits theaters on September 21st....[ThePlaylist]
