Steven Spielberg wants Chris Hemsworth for 'Robopocalypse'; 'Lincoln' gets November release

What an incredible rise to stardom it's been for Chris Hemsworth, taking a five minute scene stealing turn in Star Trek and springboarding into leading a number of hit franchises. The Thor actor actor has already had quite the year with The Avengers and Snow White and the Huntsman, but it looks like it might be getting even better.

Deadline reports that Hemsworth has met with Steven Spielberg about a role in his big budget sci-fi/action spectacle, Robopocalypse. Based on Daniel H. Wilson's novel, the film has Spielberg again revisiting a world where robots have become a part of human society(much like A.I.), until they are programmed to kill by a secret artificial intelligence. Spielberg has been attached to the film for a couple of years, and it was initially to come in 2013, but due to his commitments on Lincoln, it has been pushed back to April 25th 2014. Hemsworth just wrapped up Ron Howard's F-1 racer flick, Rush, and will soon be jumping into Thor: The Dark World. He's also got a sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman somewhere down the line. If he does take on Robopocalypse, it will reunite him with writer Drew Goddard, who he worked with on The Cabin in the Woods.

Speaking of Lincoln, Spielberg's incredibly stacked ensemble based on the Doris Kearns Goodwin novel, the film has just been given a limited rollout set for November 9th 2012. Just in time for Oscar season, where it will no doubt be a serious player. The film, which stars Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jackie Earle Hale, Tommy Lee Jones and many more, will expand into more theaters the following week.
