In my little write-up about the future of the Marvel cinematic universe, I speculated about the meaning behind the Thor sequel's new subtitle, 'The Dark World'. It could either mean we'd see him venturing into the netherworld of Hel, or he'd be battling his longtime foes, the Dark Elves. If the words of the film's stuntman, James Grogan, are to be believed then it looks like it will be the latter....
Grogan: “I had a load of stunt guys in and the director came in and he said ‘Look, we want you all to be elves,’ and I was like ‘What the hell is an elf anyway?’ and he said ‘I want you all to walk around like these supernatural animals,’ honestly it was the most ridiculous thing ever but you just have to not be self aware and get on with it.”
Yes, I'm sure director Alan Taylor will love that he thinks the whole thing was ridiculous. The Dark Elves are a constant thorn in the side of all the Norse gods, ruled over by the evil Malekith the Accursed. Even if true, chances are there will be another threat pulling their strings behind the scenes. When Mads Mikkelsen was attached to the film, the speculation was that he would be playing Skurge the Executioner, which would have meant Amora the Enchantress wouldn't be far behind.
Thor: The Dark World is set to hit theaters on November 8th 2013. [I Review Too]
