After blowing many of us away with her 2004 debut feature, Somersault, it's been a long wait for Cate Shortland's follow-up. Just as she introduced us to Abbie Cornish and Sam Worthington in that film, she looks to be building yet another star in newcomer Saskia Rosendahl, who is earning high praise for her performance in Shortland's upcoming WWII drama, Lore.
The film was just announced as part of TIFF's impressive line-up, and now a trailer has been released which highlights the harrowing journey at the heart of the story. Rosendahl plays one of five siblings who must lead her family across Germany as the Allied forces invade her homeland. Along the way she'll have to navigate the wartorn countryside, and also learn to trust those she's always perceived as the enemy. It looks incredible, so hopefully Music Box Films will set a release date for it soon.
