Trailer Time: 'Middle of Nowhere', starring David Oyelowo and Omari Hardwick

Ava Duvernay took home the Best Director prize at this year's Sundance for her film, Middle of Nowhere, becoming the first African-American woman to take home the award. In the process, the film earned an incredible amount of buzz and rose above the deluge of similar films that make up the festival. I heard nothing but great things about it, but there are so many quiet, elegantly shot dramas at Sundance that few gain traction when brought out into the mainstream. With an October 12th release date right around the corner, a new trailer has been released that makes a strong case for why Middle of Nowhere is worthy of our attention.

Starring  David Oyelowo, Omari Hardwick, and newcomer Emayatzy Corinealdi, Middle of Nowhere follows Ruby(Corinealdie), a smart medical student who must put her dreams on hold when her husband is locked up in prison for eight years. Faced by an uncertain future, Ruby must learn to cope any way she knows how, and she finds a glimmer of light in the attentions of another man(Oyelowo).

Beautifully shot with a touch of grounded neo-realism, Middle of Nowhere may be the sort of impactful drama could make some noise this awards season. Check out the trailer below....
