Trailer Time: 'Silent Hill: Revelation 3D', starring Adelaide Clemens and Kit Harington

Of all the video game movies we've seen adapted over the years, none captured the game's mood and look better than Silent Hill. The 2006 film was appropriately dark and creepy throughout, with some cringe-inducing creature design and a strong female protagonist played by Radha Mitchell. The film also clicked with fans beyond just the video game, mounting a charge past the $100M and ensuring we'd see a sequel somewhere down the line. Six years later, and finally Silent Hill: Revelation 3D is here, and so is the newly released trailer.

Michael J. Bassett directed and wrote the script, and frankly I don't like the look of it at all. Bathed in bad CGI and lacking the gloomy feel of the previous film, Silent Hill: Revelation sees the return of Mitchell as Rose Da Silva, although her role is likely to be minor. This time the focus will be on Heather Mason(Adelaide Clemens), the popular main character from the video game, who just before turning 18 years old begins having horrific nightmares. Sean Bean returns as her father, Christopher Da Silva, who has been keeping the family's dark past a secret for years, but when he disappears the trail leads Heather right back to the awful alternate realm of Silent Hill. Kit Harington, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Malcolm McDowell join what Open Road Films is certainly hoping will be their own personal Resident Evil-style franchise.

Anyone who suffered through Bassett's Solomon Kane probably isn't surprised the film looks like crap. The clip released a couple of weeks ago was far more effective, and you can see it for yourself here. Silent Hill: Revelation 3D opens in theaters on October 26th....
