Ben Affleck shoots down all that 'Justice League' chatter

Ben Affleck REALLY wants you to know he's absotively posilutely not working on any Justice League movies for Warner Brothers. It was just a couple of weeks ago that his name got tossed out there as the studio's top pick to direct the A-list superhero jam session consisting of Batman, Green Lantern, Superman and his new gal Wonder Woman(read the comics, folks). That led to some trade site scuffling over the legitimacy of those reports, with one saying Affleck had turned the job down. Whatever the case might have been, Affleck made his thoughts on the whole thing loud and clear.

Here's what Affleck had to say to the Canadian site, 24 Hours. Something tells me he was a tad miffed getting asked about Justice League when his hostage drama, Argo, is right around the corner....

Affleck:  "I'm not working on the 'Justice League.' One of the problems with entertainment web sites is that they need to fill pages, and that's how rumours get started.  'Justice League' sounds really exciting, but it's not something I'm working on."

Ouch! And the movie news industry gets hip-checked into the boards! Oh well. He seemed like a strange pick, anyway. Some are trying to spin his words to mean that he isn't working on it right this very second, and that there's still still a chance he will. Whatever. I think Warner Brothers has enough of a tough road getting this movie together than to worry about a director who doesn't seem all that interested.

As much as I think he's hit or miss as a writer/director, I'd love to see a true diehard comic book fan like David Goyer get the job. Plus he brings a sense of continuity, having worked on all three of Christopher Nolan's Batman films, and also the script for Man of Steel. Make it so, Warner Brothers.
