As crazy as this might be to believe, it's completely true: Matthew McConaughey is one of the most interesting actors in Hollywood right now. Straight up. The guy who was basically a dressed up side of beef for years has had an incredible run of unexpected career highlights that began with The Lincoln Lawyer, then Richard Linklater's Bernie, and most recently Magic Mike. That doesn't include the dark thriller Killer Joe, for which he's currently earning raves, and Lee Daniels' The Paperboy. So what can he possibly do to top all this?
How about starring in a Martin Scorsese flick? McConaughey is the latest to join the already star-studded cast of The Wolf of Wall Street, based on Jordan Belfort's memoir about how his career as a New York stockbroker spiraled out of control due to sex, drugs, and fraud. McConaughey will play one of Belfort's mentors, Mark Hanna. Sorry, ladies, it sounds like this will be another role where McConaughey keeps his shirt on.
The Wolf of Wall Street features a script by Terence Winter(The Sopranos) and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, Jean Dujardin, Jon Bernthal, Rob Reiner, Jon Favreau, Jake Hoffman, Cristin Milioti, and Margot Robbie. [Deadline]
