So what's the meaning behind this new poster for Paul Thomas Anderson's The Master? To the best of my knowledge, kaleidoscopes don't have much to do with Scientology, but I could always be mistaken. Maybe it's hinting at the many sides of the three central characters that make up the story? Possibly. More likely it's just a cool way of letting us know the star power behind the film, which is already earning rather extraordinary praise more than a month before it opens.
How's that? Well, a few days ago Anderson shocked crowds in Santa Monica with a surprise screening, and the buzz has been off the charts. Some might say that showing off the trio of Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams, and Philip Seymour Hoffman is odd for such a small scale film, but I disagree. The Master clearly has some Oscar aspirations, and let's not forget Anderson hasn't exactly backed off from highlighting his casts in posters in the past.
