Plot details emerge on Greg Mottola and Larry David's improv comedy

With HBO now taking on Greg Mottola and Larry David's untitled comedy, the film seems to be taking on a life of its own. Mottola's name alone probably isn't enough to get people so worked up, but the idea of David matching wits with Jon Hamm and Michael Keaton in a semi-improvisational laugher makes this a film worth paying attention to, and now we're finally starting to get some idea what they'll be doing.

Both Variety and the LA Times have cobbled together the plot, and it revolves around the electric car industry, with David playing an angry misanthrope similar to what he's been doing on Curb Your Enthusiasm. David will play Lenny, a marketing exec for an electric car created by Hamm's character, Haney.  Lenny hates the car's name, 'The Howard'(named after The Fountainhead's Howard Roark), and rather than coming to an agreement, he gives Haney full stake in the vehicle, which then goes on to be a huge success. Obviously, this ticks Lenny off, and years later he gets a shot at a little revenge.

It actually sounds like an episode of 'Curb', with David ending up on the losing end of something due to his own anger management issues and neuroses. There are other plot details and in-jokes(like Lenny losing his hair and his wife), but it appears there's still a lot of story that hasn't been totally fleshed out yet. Whatever the case, I'm excited to see where this is going, and since we won't be seeing 'Curb' on TV for awhile(if ever), this will do quite nicely.
