Sure Shots: Tobey Maguire; 'White House Down'; 'Iron Man 3'
* Craig Zobel is already a director on the rise, especially after turning heads with his unsettling true-life thriller, Compliance. The film is out in some theaters now and expanding this weekend, so be sure to keep an eye out for our review in just a couple of days. The added attention has helped him gain a big name for his next film, an adaptation of Robert C. O'Brien's post-apocalyptic novel, Z for Zachariah. The picky Tobey Maguire is the first to join the cast, playing an infected scientist in a story that centers on Ann Burden, a 16-year old girl who survives a nuclear war and thinks she's the last person alive. Ann's world changes when she discovers she may not be alone. The Black List script was written by Nissar Modi. [Variety]
* Happily ever after? Garcelle Beauvais, who was the lust object(and eventual fiance) of Jamie Foxx on The Jamie Foxx Show back in the 1990s, will play his wife in Roland Emmerich's hostage thriller, White House Down. Foxx plays the President of the United States, which would make Beauvais the First Lady, who must be rescued by a Secret Service agent(Channing Tatum) when a paramilitary group invades. Richard Jenkins, James Woods, Jason Clarke, and Maggie Gyllenhaal co-star. [THR]
*Dale Dickey, who was so good in Winter's Bone and is currently burning it up this season on True Blood, has revealed she has a role in Iron Man 3. A glance at her IMDB page has her listed as Mrs. Davis, which doesn't really mean squat. It's likely just a tiny part, but if Dickey has proven anything, it's that she can make a small role seem pretty big. The Shane Black-directed film stars Robert Downey Jr. Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Ben Kingsley, and is slated to open on May 3rd 2013. [CBM]
