Perhaps you haven't heard of The Paperboy yet, and that's because clearly you are not interested in watching Nicole Kidman urinate on Zac Efron. Because that is what happens in this insane movie. I can't even stop giggling while writing this post.
The latest from director Lee Daniels, who also produced Halle Berry Oscar-winner Monster's Ball and directed the heavily Oscar-nominated Precious, The Paperboy was an entry at this year's Cannes Film Festival and got lots of attention for Kidman, who raunches it up in the below trailer (orgasms, ahead!), and Matthew McConaughey, who apparently can't do any wrong this year (and, as always, seems weirdly sweaty). The film centers on McConaughey, who plays a journalist, and Efron, as his younger brother; together, the two are trying to figure out if a death row inmate (John Cusack, who really needs something good this year after the awfulness of The Raven) is actually guilty.
And into their lives waltzes Charlotte (Kidman), a woman so sexual and uninhibited that she's almost garish, practically feral. A lot of the great moments in the trailer come from her, as she and Efron's character develop some kind of bizarro love affair. (If that equals a lot of shirtless Efron time, I'm OK with that.)
Ultimately The Paperboy looks weird, but intriguing, too - and is certainly something different than Precious. Touche to Daniels for going balls to the wall in his adaptation of the same-named 1995 novel by Pete Dexter. The film hits theaters Oct. 5, 2012, and also stars Macy Gray and David Oyelowo of Red Tails.
