It hasn't exactly been a banner few months for top WWE superstar Randy Orton. Back in April he lost the lead role in The Marine: Homefront due to his own checkered military background, with Mike "The Miz" Mizanin taking his place. Soon after, Orton found himself suspended from wrestling for 60 days after failing the WWE's Wellness program for the second time. Things are starting to look up, though. The suspension is over, and clearly the WWE has no plans on holding back on Orton's big or small screen push.
Orton is set to star in 12 Rounds: Reloaded, and yep it's a sequel to the barely watchable 2009 film that starred John Cena. Orton will play an EMT who gets caught up in a 12-round game of cat and mouse with a villain from his past. The film will be directed by Roel Reine, who last directed Death Race: Inferno and The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption. So yeah, we're talking straight-to-DVD here, part of the WWE's three movie deal with Fox Home Entertainment.
Production on 12 Rounds: Reloaded begins next month, for a planned spring 2013 release. Orton's a hell of an athlete in the ring, and he has a rare charisma on TV. But movies are a totally different beast(just ask Adam "Edge" Copeland or Triple H), and that doesn't always translate. [Deadline]
