First trailer for 'A Late Quartet' with Philip Seymour Hoffman and Christopher Waken
If one were told that Christopher Walken was starring in a movie about a renowned string quartet, they'd probably think it involved the actor as a psychotic mobster who holds a prized cello for ransom or something. Surprisingly, A Late Quartet doesn't involve mobsters or crazy characters, it's instead a dramatic show piece which sees Walken in perhaps the most reserved role he's had in years.
Directed by Yaron Zilberman(Watermarks), A Late Quartet has Walken starring alongside Philip Seymour Hoffman, Catherine Keener, and Mark Ivanir(The Hunting Party) as a famous string quartet marking their 25th anniversary and finding a number of problems making it tough to stay together. Walken plays their first violinist who is diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, and Walken's rather matter-of-fact reveal of the information is priceless. The other members start butting heads as egos get in the way, personal feelings get stepped on, and with a bunch of master actors like this every moment seems to strike all the right chords, no pun intended. Liraz Charhi and Wallace Shawn co-star, with Imogen Poots(Fright Night) starring as Hoffman and Keener's talented daughter.
A Late Quartet will play at Toronto before opening in theaters on November 2nd....
