Hugh Jackman is totally jacked in 1st official image from 'The Wolverine'
There can be no argument: Wolverine is the most overused character in comic book history. Period. In the world of movies, he's only got a handful of flicks, and his first solo venture in X-men Origins: Wolverine was such a disaster many speculated that would be the end of it. But after a myriad of problems that delayed production, including the loss of initial director Darren Aronofsky, The Wolverine is fast approaching and we're getting our first official look at Hugh Jackman as everyone's favorite feral Canadian mutant.
Looking like he was chiseled from holy granite, Jackman is a heck of a lot more serious in this shot than he was at any point in the last film. Directed by James Mangold, The Wolverine is based on Chris Claremont and Frank Miller's cherished mini-series which has Logan(aka Wolverine aka James Howlett) venturing to Japan to learn to control his berserker nature and learn something about the samurai code of honor. He'll face off with the evil Lord Shingen(Hiroyuki Sanada), who despises Wolverine's relationship with his daughter Mariko(Tao Okamoto). Svetlana Khodchenkova will play the villainous green-haired Viper, with Rila Fukushima as the assassin Yukio, Will Yun Lee as Silver Samurai, and Hal Yamanouchi as Yashida.
With so many Avengers related Marvel movies coming our way next year it's easy to forget that The Wolverine will be amongst them on July 26th.
