A lot of people really took to Goon, Jay Baruchel's hockey comedy starring Seann William Scott as Doug Glatt, an ex-bouncer with limited social skills who begins the on-ice thug for a semi pro hockey team. The film was clearly a labor of love for Baruchel, who co-wrote the script with Evan Goldberg, and while it didn't do much at the box office the film has quickly gained the status of cult favorite. Hockey is such a niche sport (spare me your hate letters!) that pretty much any movie on it ends up a cult favorite.
Baruchel isn't done telling Doug's story, and he took to Twitter to announce his plans for a Goon sequel. He doesn't reveal any plot details in his numerous enthusiastic tweets, but we know he'll be back to co-star and co-write the script, this time with Jesse Chabot. Seann William Scott will obviously be back, and so will Michael Dowse as director. Goldberg will move into the producer's seat, and Baruchel implies that Liev Schreiber(the best part of the movie by far!) and Alison Pill would be returning. All of this remains to be seen, but Baruchel's stoked and so I imagine fans of Goon will be, too.

Though I do feel the need to clarify something from the last article I posted, GOON 2 will be written by @jessechabot and myself.
Evan Goldberg will be involved as a producer and we will all be working our asses off to make as awesome a flick as possible.
Please know this: GOON is pretty close to sacred for all of
us involved and we would only be entertaining the idea of continuing the saga if we were all equally convinced that Doug, Laflamme, Stevesy, the Russians, Rolie, Ogilvy Belchy and Eva were only getting started
