New poster for Matt Damon and John Krasinski's 'Promised Land'
For all the talent associated with Promised Land, the film has largely been forgotten in all of the late season awards talk. But with the first trailer just hitting the web yesterday, I think all that's about to change. You can't keep Matt Damon, John Krasinski, and Gus Van Sant down for long, especially when they're making a film quite this personal.
A new poster has been released for the film, which features a script co-written by Damon and Krasinski, and deals with the environmental issue of hydro-fracking. Based on an idea conceived by Dave Eggers, the story follows Steve Butler(Damon), a corporate salesman who shows up in an economically devastated small town with his business partner(Frances McDormand) to convince them to sell oil drilling rights. An easy job is made difficult by the objections of two men who see that they're being taken advantage of.
The image certainly strikes at the midwestern feel of the story, and gets at the question of how much the cost of one's personal integrity? Promised Land opens in limited release on December 28th.
