* Because the only thing better than one Affleck are a pair of Afflecks and a Damon, Casey Affleck is set to star in the true adventure tale, Race to the South Pole, with Ben Affleck and Matt Damon producing. Based on a script by Peter Glanz, Affleck will play Royal Navy officer Robert Falcon Scott, who in 1912 competed against Norway's Roald Amundsen in a race to be the first to reach the South Pole. No word on when this will kick off but it sounds great already. Maybe Ben or Matt could be convinced to play Amundsen? It'd be another chance to see Damon and Casey wandering a wasteland together since 2002's Gerry.[THR]
* Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, and the rest of the Looney Tunes crew are headed back to the silver screen for their first feature film since 2003's Looney Tunes: Back in Action. Details are slim at this time but it's expected to be a live-action/CGI hybrid and follow much the same style of the last film and 1996's Space Jam. Comedian Jenny Slate has been hired to write the script, with David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith(Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) set to produce. [THR]
*Unfortunately it turned out that Roman Polanski's Carnage was largely ignored by audiences here and by the Academy Awards, but that's not stopping him from turning to another stage adaptation for his next project. This fall he'll direct and co-write the script for Venus in Fur, based on the acclaimed Broadway play by David Ives, who will also work on the screenplay. Polanski's wife Emmanuelle Seigner will star with Louis Garrel in a story that follows the writer/director of a play based on Venus in Furs(which inspired the term "masochism"). Struggling through the auditioning process and lamenting all the actresses who have tried out, yet at the last minute an actress bursts in who exemplifies the weakness he hates. But over the course of the audition we see the two engage in an unexpected power struggle. A little disappointing that Nina Arianda, who won a Tony Award for her stage performance, couldn't be brought in to star. Otherwise this sounds great, and hopefully we'll see it on the festival circuit next year.
