Robert Pattinson joins Carey Mulligan in 'Hold On To Me'

I'm convinced that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart's supposed reconciliation is little more than a publicity scheme, designed to make the Twilight fans feel nice and cozy before Breaking Dawn pt. 2 opens next month. Maybe I'm just being cynical, but that's what it seems like. Anyway, you have to give credit to both of them for establishing their careers outside of that popular franchise. Pattinson in particular has been working with some of the finest directors both in and outside the mainstream, and he's just signed on to work with one who definitely falls into the latter category.

Pattinson has signed on to join Carey Mulligan in Hold On to Me, which we learned about back in August when it was titled Nancy and Danny. Directed by the unpredictable James Marsh(Project NIM, Man on Wire, Shadow Dancer) and written by Brad Inglesby(Out of the Furnace), the film centers on a small town woman whose big city dreams of riches and fame have failed. Desperate to win over her high school crush, she uses a hapless pawn to launch a get rich scheme that doesn't go quite as planned.

So now Pattinson can add Marsh to an impressive list of filmmakers he's worked with or will be soon, including David Cronenberg, Werner Herzog, and David Michod. [Deadline]
