New photos from 'The World's End', 'Pain and Gain', and 'Jack Ryan'
Empire has released a pair of new images from Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and Edgar Wright's eagerly anticipated The World's End, both playing up different aspects to the sci-fi comedy. One shows the spectacular cast, which includes Martin Freeman, Paddy Considine, and Eddie Marsan downing a pint at one of the numerous pubs visited during the film. The other is considerably more mysterious, with Pegg, starring as Gary King, surrounded by a veil of smoke as a car comes his way. It may mean nothing, but it looks like something strange is about to happen.
Along with it comes an interview in which Pegg says this...
Pegg: "When you’ve seen the film, you’ll be able to relate each pub name to what happens inside."
There are something like 10 pubs that the gang revisit on the way to reaching the final one, The World's End, and they all have very specific names which will apparently play a part in the story. The film arrives on October 25th, and hopefully by then we'll have more shots of Rosamund Pike.
Don't even bother trying to get away from Dwayne Johnson this year. It's useless to resist. The brand new WWE Champion(Booo!!!!!) has a ton of projects on the way this year, from G.I. Joe: Retaliation and Snitch, to his Michael Bay-directed crime caper Pain and Gain. Empire has released a new image from the latter, which has Johnson and Mark Wahlberg as a pair of dim-witted bodybuilders who also run a criminal ring that gets in over their heads after an extortion scheme fails. The pic captures film's blend of action and comedy, as Johnson hightails it away from a cop while all of his stolen loots trails out behind him. Kinda funny. Pain and Gain flexes its muscles on April 26th.
After a ten year hiatus, Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan returns to theaters this Christmas in....Jack Ryan. Brilliant. Chris Pine stars as the CIA analyst in one of his pre-government adventures, as he attempts to stop a bad guy with plans of destroying the American economy with a nefarious scheme. Kenneth Branagh pulls double-duty as the director and as the bad guy, while Kevin Costner plays Ryan's mentor and Keira Knightley is his girlfriend. Cool cast, but I'm not sure Pine is the guy to make Jack Ryan interesting again.[CinemaTeaser]
