'X-men: Days of Future Past' set a decade after 'X-men: First Class'
The pieces are starting to fall into place for Bryan Singer's X-men: Days of Future Past. A lot of that is thanks to his active Twitter account, but some of it now coming into focus due to a newly released casting call sheet. According to it, the film will be set mostly in 1973, which is a decade after X-men: First Class.
So, judging from this, we can reasonably expect that the future sequences will be set in close to our present, which would allow for Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Ellen Page, Anna Paquin, and Shawn Ashmore to make their return in the forms we all know them. They'll likely be battling giant robots known as Sentinels, created by the government to corral or kill mutants after the X-men fail to stop Mystique(Jennifer Lawrence) from killing a Senator. There's always the chance they alter that last aspect. Maybe she aims higher and goes after the President? Considering Nightcrawler tried to off him in X-2, that would seem good reason to employ some more aggressive measures.
Filming is set to begin in April and last through August, a much better schedule than the cramped one Matthew Vaughn had to put up with. Also starring Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, and Nicholas Hoult, X-men: Days of Future Past arrives on July 17th 2014. [via CBM]
