It was only a month ago that Leonardo DiCaprio was talking about taking a long and well-deserved break from acting. He wanted to spend some of that time, and his considerable star power, in his environmental activism pursuits. A worthy cause to be sure, but the call of Hollywood is strong, and DiCaprio is already on the verge of a return.
Deadline reports that DiCaprio and his Appian Way shingle will be producing The Road Home, which Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart) is set to direct, write, and co-produce. Warner Bros. picked up the rights to Michael Armour's upcoming book as a potential starring vehicle for DiCaprio. The Depression era story follows Creek, a California rancher scarred by war who is tasked with investigating the murder of a local man, a crime swept under the rug by local police.DiCaprio produced Cooper's latest film, Out of the Furnace, so the two have a working relationship which could speed things along. They're also both attached to a lot of projects, so who knows when The Road Home could actually shoot, whether DiCaprio stars in it or not.
