Megan Fox is April O'Neil in Michael Bay's 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' reboot

It looks like whatever ill will was between Megan Fox and Michael Bay isn't going to stand in the way of doing business. The two had a pretty ugly, and very public, falling out after Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, but it's all been patched up now.  Bay took to his blog to announce that Fox would be joining his upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot, which last we heard was titled simply Ninja Turtles...

TMNT: we are bringing Megan Fox back into the family!

THR went ahead and got the confirmation, saying that Fox and Bay reconciled over a series of meetings. It was when director Jonathan Liebesman showed her the storyboards that she was totally won over, though, agreeing to take on the female lead. She'll be playing the Turtles best friend, the intrepid reporter April O'Neil. Can Casey Jones be far behind?

It's interesting that Bay refers to it as "TMNT", and not Ninja Turtles. We know the greatest uproar over the film was the plan to remove the "teenage", "mutant", and even the "ninja" aspects and make them extraterrestrials. But the film was also put on hiatus to fix major problems with the script, and they may have decided to take a more traditional approach in the latest draft. Bay, who is only serving in a producing capacity, no doubt has heard the fan outcry.

Casting is underway, and a bunch of unknowns have begun testing for the roles of Leonardo, Donatello, Michaelangelo, and the best turtle of all, Raphael. Fox has been doing the most inspired work of her career lately, with terrific performances in Friends with Kids and This is 40. Hopefully this won't be too much of a step backwards.

Production should begin in a couple of months for release on May 16th 2014.
