New trailer for long-delayed thriller '6 Souls' with Julianne Moore
Here's one film most people probably forgot about, or didn't even know existed. A few years ago Julianne Moore became attached to a psycho-thriller titled Shelter, which was to be directed by the Underworld: Awakening duo of Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein. Nothing was heard about it, after that, but the film not only was completed but has been out in Canada since 2010. Now all of a sudden it's finally getting a stateside release, with a brand-spankin' new title, 6 Souls.
It's generally not a good sign when any film flounders for as long as this, and the newly-released trailer isn't going to inspire a lot of confidence. Moore plays Cara, a widowed psychiatrist who is encouraged by her father to take on an intriguing new patient in Adam (Jonathan Rhys Meyers), a wheelchair-bound man with multiple personality disorder. Cara soon discovers that all of his personalities are of past murder victims, putting her family in danger.
This doesn't look very good at all, and if the finished product is as inert as the trailer it's a wonder anyone made it through to the end. Moore is a terrific actress, but she's had more than her share of clunkers. 6 Souls hits VOD on March 1st, and then opens in theater on April 5th. Or if you're really just that much into it, pick up the DVD here.
