'Star Wars' spinoffs not confirmed just yet
As expected, Bob Iger's confirmation of future Star Wars stand-alone spinoffs has led to a lot of ideas on which characters will be featured. Yoda was the first to be rumored, with a young Han Solo and Boba Fett said to be next in line. But now Deadline says that despite Iger's comments, nothing is set in stone just yet.
Here's the quote reportedly from an inside source....
“Nobody knows when these movies are even coming out. Right now, people are just kicking around ideas. Which is why you hear it’s Yoda one day and a young Han Solo another. It’s all in early development right now.”
There's probably more truth to what we've heard so far than idle speculation, and I remain convinced Zack Snyder's samurai-influenced film is still very much in the picture. He may not be involved on the directing side, but I'm betting he was at least approached with the concept. For now, Disney's attention is said to be squarely on Star Wars: Episode VII, which may arrive as soon as 2015.
