Sure Shots: Jane Levy; Alicia Vikander; 'Mr. Peabody and Sherman'
* In a fairly short amount of time, Jane Levy has become one of my favorite young actresses. Having only seen a handful of Suburgatory episodes, she's still managed to make quite an impression on me, which extended to her being the best part of the terrible Halloween comedy, Fun Size. She'll star in the Evil Dead remake soon, and now she's added another horror to her schedule. Bharat Nalluri (Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day) is directing In a Dark Place, with Levy slated to star as “an American woman who moves to England to become the governess of a porcelain doll, which the family treats as its own son. When the family leaves for a holiday, the woman begins to think the doll is haunted and may be alive.” Ok, that's just creepy. Filming begins this May. [THR]
* We still don't know much about the plot for Son of a Gun, the upcoming thriller that Ewan McGregor signed on for last October. But we are learning more about who will be starring alongside him as production gears up. Anna Karenina and A Royal Affair star Alicia Vikander will join him, along with Brenton Thwaites (Maleficent) and Jacek Koman (The Great Gatsby). Marking the feature directorial debut of Julius Avery, all we know about the story is that it follows the complicated relationship between Australia's "public enemy #1"(McGregor) and his protege(Thwaites). * Dreamworks Animation is bumping two of their biggest upcoming films, one down to a later release date, and the other totally off the schedule. First is Mr. Peabody and Sherman, based on the time-traveling characters from Rocky & Bullwinkle. It's been knocked from its November 2013 perch down to March 7th 2014. It will feature the voices of Ty Burrell (Modern Family), Stephen Colbert, and Max Charles. The move was made at the behest of new partner, 20th Century Fox, who know a thing or two about animated hits thanks to the Ice Age franchise.
The promising Me and My Shadow has been taken totally off the schedule and sent back into development. Directed by Alessandro Carloni and featuring the voices of Bill Heder and Josh Gad, the story would have explored the mysterious world of shadows, with one taking his human counterpart on an exciting adventure. No reason was given for the move, but maybe Dreamworks wants to punch up the CG/hand-drawn technique that's being utilized.
