Walter Salles to direct 'The Man in the Rockefeller Suit'
After helping Jeff Bridges finally earn a Best Actor award for Crazy Heart a few years ago, Scott Cooper took on a bunch of projects before ultimately settling on Out of the Furnace with Christian Bale. But one of those projects which has been sitting around untouched is going to proceed in another direction with a totally new director at the helm.
Walter Salles (The Motorcycle Diaries) is in negotiations to direct The Man in the Rockefeller Suit, based on Mark Seal's novel about the true story of Christian Gerhartsreiter, a German immigrant and con man who spent years passing himself off as Clark Rockefeller, born into the wealthy and prominent Rockefeller clan. Salles, who also has the Jack Kerouac adaptation On the Road, seems like a natural fit for the material.
There's no writer attached right now, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Salles hook up with his usual writing partner, Jose Rivera. [Variety]
