'21 Jump Street' sequel set for 2014

Sony began prepping a sequel to 21 Jump Street before the film even opened, going a long way in showing just how far the film had come since Jonah Hill first began talking about it years ago. The film, a big screen comedic take on the silly 1980s TV series, would go on to prove the studio's confidence was justified to the tune of $200M at the box office. Last spring we learned that Hill and screenwriter Michael Bacall were working on the script, and it must be moving along nicely because Sony has announced the sequel for 2014.

The news was broken during Sony's CinemaCon presentation, but no additional details were revealed. It seems like a no-brainer where the story will go, considering where the previous film left off, so don't be surprised if officers Schmidt and Jenko are busting crime at a university. Hill and Tatum will obviously be back, but less clear are directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Production was previously rumored to begin this fall, which should give them time to finish up with Lego: The Piece of Resistance. All that matters to me is the return of Ice Cube as angry Captain Dickson. As long as he's not busy hangin' out with Korean Jesus.
