Michael Caine and Ben Kingsley join 'Eliza Graves' with Kate Beckinsale
There was a time when Eliza Graves looked like a horror-thriller with a great deal of promise, back when Paranormal Activity director Oren Peli was behind the camera. But he left, and the job was taken over by The Call and Transsiberian's Brad Anderson. He's a solid filmmaker, but not quite on Peli's level when it comes to the genre. But things began to turn around again with the addition of Kate Beckinsale and Jim Sturgess to the cast, and now two more big names have signed on.
Sir Ben Kingsley and Michael Caine will move away from the superhero flicks for a bit and join the film, which is based on the Edgar Allen Poe short The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether, about a med school grad (Sturgess) who takes a job at a turn-of-the-century insane asylum that has been overrun by its patients. Kingsley and Caine's roles are unclear at this point.
Filming begins this summer for release next year. [Deadline]
