'Go the F**k to Sleep' gets a fu**king movie

A couple of years ago, parents everywhere fell in love with a children's book written with adults in mind. It was called Go the Fuck to Sleep, a parody that crystalized one of the many frustrations parents face with a kid who has way too much energy. The 32-page story by Adam Mansbach is based on his own experiences struggling to get his kid to go to bed each night. I've never been a parent so I'm assuming it's not okay to empty a bottle of sleeping pills into their milk? Anyway, the book became a viral hit thanks to the hilarious audio versions read by Samuel L. Jackson, Werner Herzog(!!!), and other celebrities, and now Fox2000 wants to bring it to the big screen.

Husband and wife duo Ken Marino and Erica Oyama have been hired to adapt the script, and it'll be interesting to see what approach they take. The story has essentially one gag, the building anger of the exhausted parent, so coming up with ways to keep that fresh will be the challenge. They'll probably have to build a larger story that can house the simple premise. Otherwise this would probably be better served as an animated short.

Marino is probably best known as a member of the comedy troupe, The State, and last wrote Wanderlust for Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd. He and his wife are also parents, so they may be able to add in a few personal touches.
