Subtitled trailer for Asghar Farhadi's 'The Past' with Bérénice Bejo

Earlier this month, the first trailer for A Separation director Asghar Farhadi's follow-up, The Past, was released without the benefit of subtitles. While it was easy to tell that the film was another riveting look at a family's complicated domestic drama, the particulars were hard to decipher. But with the film now officially announced as part of the Cannes Film Festival line-up, a new subtitled trailer has arrived.

Boasting a remarkable cast led by The Artist star Bérénice Bejo, A Prophet's Tahar Rahim, and Ali Mosaffa, the film follows an Iranian man who leaves his French wife and kids to return home. When she begs for a divorce, he returns only to find that she's taken up with another man. The subtitles further reveal the effect the dispute has on the kids, with one landing on the mother's side and the other beginning to turn against her.

The Past still doesn't have U.S. distribution, but will open in France on May 15th.
