Al Pacino confirmed as 'Manglehorn' for David Gordon Green

With many proclaiming that his latest film Prince Avalanche is a return to his indie roots, David Gordon Green has already begun prepping his next project. Earlier this month we learned he was eying Al Pacino for Manglehorn, a crime drama he will direct and co-write with Paul Logan. Word out of Cannes is that Pacino is now officially on board with a fall start date planned.

The screen legend will play the title character, an ex-con living a hermetic existence who 40 years earlier had given up the woman he loves for one big job. As he begins the process of making up for his mistakes, a dramatic event exposes his dark past to the public.

Green seems to be planting his feet in both the indie and mainstream worlds by landing bigger stars for films more in keeping with his early career. It's certainly a better idea than giving us more crap like Your Highness.
