New posters for 'We're the Millers', 'Metallica Through the Never', Studio Ghibli's 'The Wind Rises', and more
The first two trailers for the road trip comedy We're the Millers debuted last night, and so far the response has largely focused on Jennifer Aniston workin' it as a stripper. Yeah, she's still got the goods. But it actually looks pretty funny, other than everything involving the son who happens to be a virgin (read: closeted homosexual) and gets his nuts savaged by a tarantula. Jason Sudeikis plays a a small-time pot dealer who rounds up a fake family and heads off to Mexico to pick up a shipment of marijuana, only to have everything go hilariously awry. Emma Roberts, Will Poulter, Nick Offerman, Ed Helms, and Kathryn Hahan co-star in We're the Millers, opening on August 9th.
What the frig is a "through the never"? Through the never what? I'm lost, but maybe that's the point behind the sorta concert film, sorta narrative feature Metallica Through the Never, which stars the awesome Dane DeHaan as a roadie on a mysterious mission during one of the band's sold out concerts. Neither Rocky or I could make heads or tails out of the trailer, so we'll just have to wait until it opens in IMAX 3D on September 27th to see what Predators director Nimrod Antal has up his sleeve.
Studio Ghibli has released another beautiful image for Hayao Miyazaki's The Wind Rises, based on his 2009 mini-series about the life of famed WWII fighter plane designer, JirÅ Horikoshi. The tagline also references author Tatsuo Hori, who wrote the original novel from which Miyazaki's story was based. Hori is expected to figure into the film's narrative as well, somehow. The Wind Rises opens on July 20th in Japan, and will no longer be paired with The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter as previously announced, as that film has been delayed until fall.
James Wan may be gearing up get Fast & Furious this summer, but that doesn't mean he's straying from the genre he's most famous for. Because dolls, children, and rocking chairs are always creepy in horror films, the latest poster for The Conjuring includes all three. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga star as Ed and Lorraine Warren, real-life world renowned paranormal investigators called in to help a family terrorized by a dark presence. The Conjuring hits theaters on July 19th.
