Harrison Ford Joins 'The Expendables 3' while Bruce Willis Exits

Give credit where credit is due; Sylvester Stallone has been shooting for the moon when it comes to upping the ante for his 'Expendables' franchise. He can truly say he's been able to lure in a number of screen legends and action movie icons, but that hasn't stopped him from going even bigger. When a rumor surfaced that Stallone wanted to get Harrison Ford for The Expendables 3, most wrote it off as wishful thinking. Turns out we all underestimated Stallone's power of persuasion.

Stallone took to his Twitter page and, shouting to the heavens Rambo-style no doubt, announced "WILLIS OUT... HARRISON FORD IN !!!! GREAT NEWS !!!!! Been waiting years for this!!!!". For all of the doubt thrown his way, practically everyone Stallone has approached for the film has come aboard, with the exception of Clint Eastwood. Nicolas Cage, Wesley Snipes, Milla Jojovich, and Jackie Chan are the other new additions, along with Kellan Lutz as part of a rival team of youngsters squaring off against Stallone's "Dirty Dozen".

The most interesting aspect of this, beyond the idea of Han Solo bustin' caps next to Rambo, the Terminator, and Blade, is Willis' departure. Let's be honest, Willis hasn't exactly been choosey about what roles he takes, which makes the following tweet from Stallone about him all the more harsh...

Oof! Well, Willis has a handful of other franchises he can sleepwalk through and get like royalty for. And if all else fails, he and 50 Cent seem to have some sort of weird fondness for crappy straight-to-DVD flicks.

The Expendables 3 will be directed by Patrick Hughes and opens on August 15th 2014.
