Spike Lee Adds Michael K. Williams and Stephen Tyrone Williams to His Kickstarter Film

As of right now there is less than an hour left in Spike Lee's Kickstarter campaign to fund his next film, which still lacks a title or thorough plot description. He's shot past the $1.25M goal with $1.38M, and now he's showing what that money will buy, adding one big name while giving an unknown his biggest break yet.

The Wire and Boardwalk Empire star Michael K. Williams has joined the in a co-starring role, while Stephen Tyrone Williams has landed the male lead. They'll be joining the female lead Zaraah Abrahams in a story that Lee has teased will center on human beings with an addiction to blood. Lee took to his Kickstarter page to make the announcements for both...

"Ladies and Gentleman Mr. Stephen Tyrone Williams has been offered the Lead MALE Role in my New Spike Lee Joint. I first saw the fresh face and abundance of Talent at The Broadway Opening of the late Nora Ephron’s LUCKY GUY starring Tom Hanks Directed by My Main Man George Wolfe. Stephen’s performance as Abner Louima was haunting. The Opening Night Audience held their collective captive breath as he retells the terror of being sodomized with a Billy Club by one of New York’s Finest. At the After Party, I found Stephen and told him how much I enjoyed his performance and God Willing One day we would be able to work together. Well, that day is here. Stephen Tyrone Williams is gonna do his THANG. And That's The Bloody Truth Ruth."

"Ladies And Gentlemen, We Have Added A Great Talent To Our Stellar 2 Leads. My Main Man Brooklyn's Finest, Michael K. Williams Has Joined The Cast Of My Newest Hottest Joint. Who Can Forget The Wailing Warning Of "Omar's Comin'!!! Omar's Comin'!!!"? Michael Killed It. I Feel That His Portrayal, His Complexity And His Humanity Of Omar Will Go Down As One Of The Greatest Characters Cable TV Has Seen."

Stephen Tyrone Williams has mostly worked in theater, named by Time Out New York as one of the "Future Legends of New York Theater", but he's been making move in film as well. He recently appeared in the biopic Greetings from Tim Buckley opposite Penn Badgley, and had a small role in Restless City with Danai Gurira. Hopefully now that the campaign is over we can start to get more details on what Lee is actually planning.
