Evan Rachel Wood Heads 'Into the Forest' with Ellen Page

At the beginning of the year, amidst a flurry of new projects, Ellen Page was confirmed to star in the apocalyptic drama Into the Forest, based on Jean Hegland's novel. The story calls for two female leads, but there was nobody else attached at the time, nor was a director or screenwriter in place. Well now all of that has changed.

Evan Rachel Wood has joined the film, which will now be written and directed by Patricia Rozema, whose last feature behind the camera was Kitt Kittrdge: All American Girl. Not the best credit on her resume but she did helm Austen adaptation Mansfield Park, and co-wrote HBO's Grey Gardens. Into the Forest centers on sisters in the near future struggling to survive society's collapse. Page, who has moving out from in front of the camera lately, will also be receiving a producer credit, so she'll have some say in the direction this one goes.

No word on when filming begins but hopefully we'll it some time in 2014. [Variety]
