Leonardo DiCaprio Finds 'Blood On the Snow'; John Krasinski Joins Cameron Crowe's Next Film
Norwegian crime author Jo Nesbø has amassed quite a following in Hollywood, with an adaptation of his book Headhunters making a lot of noise last year (it's really friggin' great, ya'll) and earning an American remake. Plus his book The Snowman once had Martin Scorsese looking to direct but is searching for a new helmer. And now his upcoming novel Blood On the Snow has attracted the attention of Scorsese's pal, Leonardo DiCaprio, who wants to bring it to the big screen.
DiCaprio will produce and possibly star in an adaptation of the book, written under Nesbø's pseudonym Tom Johansson. Details are slim as the book doesn't hit shelves until next spring, but the story is said to center on a hit man who falls in love with his boss's wife after he's been ordered to kill her. The first book hits shelves next spring with a sequel already planned for a year later. No word on when this will roll but it's obviously a long ways off, and could come after the other Nesbø movies.
In other news, John Krasinski is looking to move beyond the mediocre Promised Land (which he co-wrote and starred in with Matt Damon) and into something more his speed. He's joined the increasingly-awesome cast of Cameron Crowe's Hawaiian comedy, formerly known as Deep Tiki, and his presence comes with an added nugget of the plot. Bradley Cooper plays a defense contractor sent to the islands as part of a Top Secret satellite launch mission, only to fall in love with an uptight Air Force pilot played by Emma Stone. Krasinski will play the husband to Rachel McAdams, who also happens to be Cooper's ex-wife. Cue up the romantic hijinks. Danny McBride, Jay Baruchel, Alec Baldwin and Bill Murray co-star and this is one that is high on my radar for next year. [Variety/THR]
